Back in 2009, I wore high-waist skirts like there was no tomorrow. I found them to be magical legs-wise by making them look like they went on forever, so you could just imagine how delighted I was with my discovery. I remember getting so many compliments on Lookbook about my height because my legs seemed so long. Little did they know that I’m petite at only 5’3” (or 5’3” 1/2 maybe, but that’s pushing it). I used to have some height issues when I was a lot younger, but when I found out that most of the Japanese models I liked were only about my height, I realized how it should never be a hindrance when it comes to fashion. Two of my favorite models are Tsubasa Masukawa (formerly from Popteen, now in Popsister), who is about 5 feet, and Lena Fuji (ViVi), who is more or less the same height as me! Such inspirations.
