A few days ago I got myself yet another watch from Baby-G! It’s a limited edition design that’s available in 3 colors - red (modeled by Jessica), black (modeled by Sooyoung) and white (modeled by Yoona). Jessica is my ultimate bias but I let Sooyoung win this time, because I feel like I could wear the black one more often given the colors in my closet, and because she is my second favorite in the group anyway! Legs for daaays.

The limited edition design is only available until supplies last, so I’m encouraging all the soshis out there to grab this design ASAP! It comes in the cutest box that’s also different from the usual Baby-G x GG packaging. Too cute. <3

I wore it with a coordinate that’s inspired by the recent SLY summer campaign. Some lovely Japanese researchers and students from Hakuhodo in Tokyo came to my house for one lovely afternoon of chatting and bonding over both Japanese and Filipino culture. That was fun!

Island fever and the pantone color of 2013. I can already see myself constantly wearing these tropical prints in the next few months, in lieu of the traditional floral prints that I usually don. I just figured that tropical prints, trend or not, will never go out of fashion here in oh-so-sunny Manila! And yes, I know these shorts are too early for spring/summer, so I put a black jacket on to keep up with the current season. :D

Much aloha nonetheless! I can’t wait for a more fitting time to wear these again.

Officially my first outfit post for 2013! Clearly I’m trying to start the year off with a more mature look that I’m quite into nowadays. Somehow I’ve been feeling my age recently, and I’ve finally realized that I can’t be all cutesy forever… after 4 years of already being 20-something. I guess I can always be young at heart, if there is any consolation? And while I still can’t see signs of aging on my face (in my ideal world, this will never even happen huhu), I might as well try to pass off as a teenager from time to time and see if I’ve still got my charms intact. Wish me luck!

Anyhow, it’s a new year again and I’m most thankful for guys who have stayed with me since the start. I’ve been a little invisible in the outside world last year, if anyone ever noticed. Part of my 2012 resolutions was to do a reality check (by constantly reminding myself with how I started and the people who helped me get to where I am now) and a life detox (in terms of toxic relationships built on the questionable things). Real life had its way with me and I traveled and traveled like the world was really going to end. So many things these eyes have seen. I learned to let go and not concern myself with things that actually aren’t so important. Gone are the days when I would sulk over a bad comment or a false rumor about myself, and the days when I would be fixated on my follower/like/hype/comment count. If you extend your horizons, the things happening to you might look surprisingly small. And they did, after *literally* putting myself out there for the world to see.

Just G: Light Coral and Gray

Gray need not be such a dreary color. One way to make it look more playful is to pair it with girly pastels such as the light coral hue on the skirt that I’m wearing.

Stef, one of my friends in high school, introduced me to this combination a long, long time ago. Both computer geeks in our own right, we would change our layouts in our little blogs (hosted on Pitas, if I remember correctly) as fast as I would change my hair color nowadays. It was one of the most crucial moments of my life, in terms of 1) deciding that this thing that we were doing was roughly what I wanted to pursue in university 2) developing my eye for colors and color combinations.

What worked on our computer screens also worked when it came to fashion.

Tricia Gosingtian Just G

We had a gray + any-color-you-can-think-of phase. Every week we would change our layout themes just to suit not only our fickle-mindedness, but also to satisfy this inexplicable obsession with pairing everything with gray. In fact, I think I’m slowly picking this obsession up again. If you haven’t noticed, I changed a lot of the colors of my blog to gray recently.

We were so into it that we even convinced our batchmates to add a bit of gray to our batch shirt and banners during our pink (2nd) year.

One of my most favorite blog themes during my geeky high school days had a gray and pastel pink or pale mint color combination. It worked - the contrast between something that we usually associate as masculine and a completely different thing that we usually think of as feminine. Who would’ve thought that gray could actually look girly and that light coral could look mature?

And with that story, I’d like to impart the idea that if you’re not so much into looking at other people’s outfits for color inspiration, you can always look around you and still pick up a few things here and there.

For example, I love looking at furniture and room pictures on my dashboard during my free time. When I see a room with a color combination that I like, I try to mimic the same feel and effect using similarly-colored items in my closet.

Be inspired by everything, and you’ll realize the beauty that lies in even the most mundane things in the world.

MOFW 2012 Australia Day 1

Tricia Gosingtian MOFW Australia

(Aje top, Tracyeinny skirt, Dazzled Bags satchel, CMG wedges) Hype this look on Lookbook here.

Welcome to another round of My Own Fashion Week! This time, I’ll be having an Australian edition where I incorporate Australian brands and items from my recent Melbourne trip to my daily personal style entries.

Tricia Gosingtian MOFW Australia

It’s the first day and I’m cheating already, by posting an old look that I already posted on Lookbook! I know I am partly to blame, since I got quite sickly today and I decided to spend the whole afternoon resting in bed instead of going out for work and errands. No chance to dress up there!

But moving on, this top was recently sent to me by an HK-based store that sells different brands from all over the world. I was torn whether or not to include this look in my November Hong Kong MOFW instead, but I figured Aje deserves an entry and a spotlight of its own.

Aje’s collections are totally lust-worthy, and I’m happy to be able to wear and style their The Patchwork Romantic Spring/Summer 2011-2012 Skotolo top in my own way. The oversized, puffy sleeves, with the off shoulder cotton, make for a wonderful, luxurious gypsy look. Think Esmeralda in Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame, minus the sexy, plunging neckline.

And the back of this top! Where do I even start? I never wear anything that’s too revealing, but the unique gold, silver and white sequined cross over straps totally won me over. I take interest in the fact that from the front, my outfit looks incredibly girly and dainty, but from the back, the slight skin exposure makes the whole thing look a little bit more playful and less conservative.

Clearly, I am still not over spring in Melbourne with this floral outfit. While the rest of the world is enjoying the autumn foliage and preparing for winter, I am with the Aussies, celebrating spring and summer!

Just G: Warm and Cool

Fresh summer look in the middle of the rainy season! Let’s give all my black clothes and red lipstick a break for a while, shall we? I just got back from my Melbourne trip, where it was pretty much only the start of spring after a long winter. I went to Zara, and found all the nice spring/summer clothes from last season all on display, and I fell in love with pastels and light colors again! I missed this!

And what better place to look for all things cute and dainty than my favorite Just G? Coincidentally, they were selling a ton of mint and coral stuff the last time I dropped by their store.

Tricia Gosingtian Just G

Pairing mint and coral is always a wise idea! It’s not the first time that I’ve sported this combo. Mint is a cool color and coral is a warm color, so the combination makes for a bright and cheerful contrast.

Tricia Gosingtian Just G

Because I am so OC about details, I painted my nails a cute lavender shade to complement the mint and coral. Make-up wise, I decided to keep it as light and simple as my outfit - very minimal eye make-up, green contacts and a peachy-pink lip color for a change. After wearing this out for a day, I think I warmed up to this kind of cutesy look again!
