(Zara top, INGNI skort, Balenciaga bag, Tory Burch Jesse Quilted Slip-On Sneakers, TRIWA Sort of Black Chrono watch, EMODA necklace, Kate Spade ring, nails by I Do Nails) Hype this look on Lookbook here.
Thank you Tory Burch and SSI for these glorious slip-ons! I’ve been constantly using and abusing this pair ever since they arrived on my doorstep. Who wouldn’t? It comes in classic black, and is one of the most tasteful and unique takes on the slip-on shoe trend I’ve seen yet. The quilted detail gives just the right amount of edge, making this pair such a dream for girls like me who prefer an understated but still elegant kind of style. Perfect everyday shoe!
In the Philippines, Tory Burch is exclusively distributed by Stores Specialists, Inc. (SSI), and is located at Greenbelt 5, Rustan’s Makati, and Rustan’s Tower Shangri-La Plaza Mall. There is currently an end of season sale at all Tory Burch stores. Enjoy up to 30% off shoes, clothing, handbags and accessories until August 16, 2014!
On my last day in Tokyo, before I headed to the airport, I decided to follow Gervin's suggestion of going to Aoyama. Aoyama is known for a lot of things, but among fashionistas, this is *the* place to go to if you're in the mood for some high-end local and international designer shopping.
It’s not too far from Harajuku and Omotesando, but I came from Shibuya so I took the Ginza line from Shibuya Station to get to Aoyama-Itchome Station.
Also, there are no photos of me in this post because no one was around to take my photo. #foreveralone Maybe you can spot my reflection, at least.
Balenciaga. I covet.
Issey Miyake Men.
Suddenly, it’s so peaceful and quiet. Nothing like Harajuku and Shibuya!
You can’t skip the Comme store in Aoyama. They have most of the Comme des Garcons lines, including some of their collaborations with other brands.
People sometimes just come to Aoyama for the famous Prada store! I won’t spoil how the building looks like (but you can spoil yourself by searching on Google, I guess) but it was designed by Swiss duo Herzog & de Meuron. If you don’t know who they are, they were the ones who were responsible the Beijing National Stadium / Bird’s Nest.
Chloé flagship store in Japan.
Trivia: Did you know that Steve Jobs’ signature black turtle necks were all by Issey Miyake?
Tsumori Chisato. Bohemian style meets kawaii!
The main store of Yoku Moku is also in Aoyama! You can spot their blue brick lounge from a mile away.
I randomly chanced upon Blue Moon The Natural Bar while walking along one of Aoyama’s big streets! It’s a popular outdoor bar slash organic market that has a quirky, hipster vibe to it. I’ve only seen photos of it during nighttime so I didn’t expect that it looked like this in the morning!
Handmade wood collectibles. TAKAIIIIIIIIIII
Beautiful temple in the middle of Aoyama.
The FURLA Aoyama boutique is one interesting place. They have “FURLA yoga” on the 4th floor!
SARARIMAN x STARBUCKS.
Also, reflection #5.
Okamoto Taro Memorial Museum. His work reminds me of the angels in Evangelion.
Red Valentino. Can I live here? Their Aoyama store looks like some sort of futuristic castle!
The lantern-shaped Marc Jacobs flagship store. At night, the top part is supposed to light up like a lantern too!
Jil Sander Navy!
Undercover. Couldn’t sneak a photo of the interiors, but on the ceiling are thousands of lightbulbs that move with the wind and make sounds!
I was too early for Acne! The store was still closed when I went to visit. Some of the Aoyama stores open early, while some open after lunch or early afternoon.
Like the Alexander Wang store. I’ve been eyeing a particular Wang bag recently, and just when I was so ready to go shopping, the store was still closed! I just took it as some sort of divine intervention. Japan, why must you always drain all my fundsss
Oh well. Settled for pictures instead! I’d wear this outfit in a heartbeat!
Yohji Yamamato! THE MASTER. I was so shocked when the Yohji Yamamoto display at Shibuya all contained super bright colors! I’ve always been so used to seeing just black and white from him, lol.
Trivia: Did you know that Yohji Yamamoto and Rei Kawakubo (of Commes des Garcons fame) were once rumored to be in a relationship back in the ’70s or ’80s? TOO MUCH PERFECTION~
Last shot before I got on the train back to Shibuya to catch a bus to the airport. I have no idea if I missed anything important in Aoyama, but I’m determined to come back again one day! I’m so in love!
Early that morning, I passed by a school in Aoyama and they were dancing to Arashi. Enough said.
Dumping all these outfits in here before the year ends. 2013 has been a great year for me, and it is probably one that I will never, ever forget. I think my style has changed drastically this year, especially after I got my hair cut and dyed a totally different style from what everyone has been used to all these years. Looking back, it was one of those many decisions that I need to put into my list of impulsive things I did that changed my life for the better.
Today also marks the last day of my 31 Days of Style with Candy! You might have noticed that I’ve been extra active on Lookbook this month and this was the reason why. It’s mostly a story about layering and wearing outerwear. I hope it won’t go away any time soon for those who still need inspiration for cold weather dressing in the next couple of months!
Speaking of Candy, I did a number of medium-length hair tutorials for them last November! I don’t think I’ve mentioned this here before but it’s better late than never, right? I noticed a lot of the girls who went to my book signing events also cut their hair to medium-length - you girls might want to check the videos out for a last minute New Year makeover!
I’ll be leaving for Taiwan soon so I’ll just be queuing posts again while I’m gone! Happy New Year!
It’s another season of cut-outs, and I am so in. Well, it’s been around for a long time, but I couldn’t really push myself to go completely out of my comfort zone with waist-baring, back-revealing ones that will compromise my usually-conservative style. I find that there are more options for cut-outs now, and my favorite kind would be the ones that show off the neck and shoulders.
Here are three outfits that clearly show my growing obsession for cut-out details. They range from subtle to something more obvious, and I can’t wait to get my hands on more creative cut-out placements in the future.
Pardon the overuse of girly skater skirts for these looks. This formula has become some sort of uniform for me recently!
I know this may seem a little ridiculous seeing how the temperature has recently gone up to 37 or 38 C, but there *is* a way to layer properly this summer - wear a sleeveless top, and a blazer that’s made of the thinnest material. It’s pretty much the same as wearing just one long-sleeved top. But a lot more fun! Thankfully, Bayo knows us so well that most of their summer pieces are super friendly to all of us who are dying from the heat. (I am sweating as I write this!)
