SM Makati: A Date with Jeffrey

Posted on Wednesday, 1 October 2014

(SM Woman skirt, SM Accessories necklace, earrings, and clutch, Jeffrey Campbell shoes all from SM Makati) Hype this look on Lookbook here.

A date with my new Jeffrey Campbell shoes, I mean. For about 3 years now, the brand has been available exclusively at SM Fashion Forum, at the 3rd floor of SM Makati. Whenever I tell my friends that they don’t have to fly out of the country just to buy JC shoes, they don’t believe me! Classic case of “pics or it didn’t happen”, so I hope this post is enough proof.

Back in 2010, I went through all the hassle of ordering from a international site just to get my first pair of Jeffrey Campbells. I found out about the brand through fashion bloggers who featured the JC Foxy Heel Platforms on their blogs. I ended up getting a pair for myself because of the chunky heels and edgy design! 4 years have passed, and while my taste in footwear may have drastically changed since then (don’t know if I can still pull off wearing JC Litas given my current style), I still feel strongly about Jeffrey Campbell designs. They keep up with trends, but also offer classic designs here and there.

Visiting SM Makati regularly has its perks, and one of them is finding out about special weekly deals. Jeffrey Campbell had a 15% off discount on all regular items last week. Of course, I didn’t miss the opportunity to get a pair for myself!

There were so many pairs to choose from, but I ultimately decided on this particular one, for a lot of reasons. It’s definitely different from the simple and safe designs that I usually pick, but I love how it’s still wearable and versatile enough for everyday use.

I dared myself to style it for a casual dinner date, and with some effort, it surprisingly worked! My boyfriend (my real date slash photographer who was starting to wonder who Jeffrey was) even told me that these shoes look more comfortable than the ones that I always wear. He would know - I always express my discomfort to him whenever I wear sky-high pointy toe shoes (lol @ the things I do for beauty).

image

Finally got to wear my SM Woman pleated midi skirt too! I’ve had this in my closet for about a month now, and I’m glad I saved these perfect pleats for this perfect date.

Black and white with gold accents is a combination that I will never, ever get tired of. True enough, it didn’t fail me when I tried to style a date outfit with my edgy JC shoes!

Have fun shopping at the Jeffrey Campbell section in SM Makati! Maybe I’ll see you there this weekend?

Charriol is an international luxury brand that specializes in fine Swiss timepieces, jewelry and accessories. I’ve worn my Charriol watch a couple of times, but now it’s time to focus on their jewelry line!

Show “amour” to the chéri in your life with Charriol’s Cherie Amour collection! If I were only a married man, I’d give my special ladies one item each from the collection - the necklace to my mom, the bracelet to my sister, the ring to my wife, and the earrings to my daughter. I just might propose this idea to my boyfriend, just in case he wants to surprise me 15-20+ years from now.

What I love about this collection most is the juxtaposition of the dainty, sparkly hearts, and Charriol’s iconic sterling silver twisted cables. These feminine pieces will definitely speak to every girl’s heart!

In the Philippines, Charriol is exclusively distributed by Stores Specialists, Inc. (SSI) - a member of The SSI Group - and is located at Greenbelt 4, Power Plant Mall, Rustan’s Makati, Rustan’s Tower, Gateway Mall, SM Mall of Asia, 158 Designers’ Boulevard Alabang Town Center, TriNoma, Robinsons Magnolia, Robinsons Midtown, Newport Resorts World, The Podium, Rustan’s Ayala Cebu, Abreeza Davao and Limketkai Cagayan de Oro.

SM Makati: Shifting Workwear

Posted on Wednesday, 17 September 2014

image

A lot of people think that my wardrobe is bottomless, but I actually repeat clothes a lot. I’ve always found it practical to invest in classic pieces that work for my body type. If they fit perfectly, I’m definitely wearing them again. If I find a certain style that is versatile enough to go from day to night, I’m definitely buying it.

This is why I have a ton of shift dresses in my closet! Move over, bodycon dresses, because shift dresses are much more comfortable and sophisticated. They’re great for work too! I usually wear shift dresses to my meetings because they automatically make me look decent and professional. (The last thing you want to do in a professional setting is distract people with unnecessary skin exposure!)

But what *can* you do to modify a knee-length shift dress? I love wearing shift dresses as is, but different occasions call for different styling. These kinds of work dresses need not always be boring, since there are various ways to make them more exciting:

image

1) A) Use a belt to shorten your dress to your desired length.

This is a technique that I often use for all my good but awkward length dresses. I’m just average height (I’m only 5’3” without heels!) with a short torso-longer legs proportion, so I always play with proportions, and try to elongate my figure by showing off my legs. (This explains all my leg-baring OOTDs!)

image

B) Use a belt to define your waist.

This creates the illusion of a curvier figure, and also acts like an additional accessory to the whole outfit. I chose a skinny black belt with a gold buckle to match my favorite gold jewelry.

Choosing the best belt for your body type is important, unless looking frumpy doesn’t bother you at all. If you’re petite or pear-shaped, go for skinny belts that won’t overwhelm your frame. If you’ve got an hourglass figure, make sure your belt emphasizes the tiniest part of your waist (don’t go for the ones that rest at the hip). If you have a long torso, you can get away with wide belts.

image

2) Wear a blazer over your belted dress, and match it with boots/booties.

Perfect way to make your work dress go from day-to-night. Choose a non-black blazer to make your outfit pop, and skip the office pumps for edgier shoes!

image

3) Wear a knit top/sweater over your dress, and accessorize with a statement necklace.

It was only recently that I appreciated layering over dresses! I love how my skirt collection seems like it has somewhat doubled, now that I can make my dresses look like skirts too! Best to go for cropped sweaters and knits to balance out the length of the shift dress.

Also, statement necklaces are always your best friend.

The bag (SM Parisian) and dress (from SM Woman) are available at The SM Store in SM Makati. You might also want to check out the sleeveless version of this dress, as well as the rack of SM Accessories where I got the statement necklace in my last photo.

Have fun shopping!

(Just G dress and bracelets, Le Bunny Bleu flats, Status Salon hair extensions, The SM Store SM Accessories earrings) Hype this look on Lookbook here.

Suddenly, something that looks straight out of my summer wardrobe! The weather has been horrible recently, so I decided to go for pink and purple pastels as an attempt to make things a little bit less gloomy. And Just G just happened to have the perfect dress for the job.

Here’s something to add to your growing Just G dress collection! <3

Just G’s new campaign is out, and I’m loving the change! Usually, they go for the typical dolly look, but this time, they went for a much edgier style! I’m so excited to see what they have in store for us Just G lovers in the next couple of months! Crossing my fingers they’ll add more black, haha!

Tory Burch Beauty Collection

Posted on Thursday, 11 September 2014

Tory Burch’s story is one of my favorite success stories of all time, so I couldn’t pass the opportunity to drop by the Tory Burch Beauty Collection launch at Rustan’s Makati a few weeks ago.

Fashion and beauty go hand in hand, and I can definitely see Tory Burch evolving into a full-blown lifestyle brand after launching this make-up collection. Now, your clothes, shoes, bags and make-up can all match!

image

The Tory Burch lipstick collection includes 12 shades for different occasions! They’re designed to suit different skin tones.

Their signature color, “Pas du Tout” was so successful that they decided to create other shades! We’re so lucky!

image

The darker colors may look intimidating, but the lipsticks actually apply sheer. So ideal for everyday use!

When do I even start with the luxuriousness of the whole collection? Each lipstick is also subtly scented with cassis, grapefruit and mandarin, and the logo on top is so pretty, you wouldn’t want to ruin it! The orange casing is a work of art - you’ll definitely want to keep it even after you’ve finished the whole tube.

image

Other notable items from the beauty collection are their lip/cheek stain and blush/bronzer combo.

image

Took photos of the current Tory Burch collection while I was at it.

image

Really eyeing the gold one in the middle! Come to mama!

image

Look familiar? It’s because I have the black one! Perfect everyday shoe. Seems like the slip-on trend isn’t going away any time soon.

image

Need these jelly flats in my life! Not sure if I should get the Reva ballet flats or these ones instead. I can’t resist anything with ribbons.

image

Or should I get these matchy-matchy shoes and bags instead?

Bumped into Patricia as well! Thank you Tory Burch Beauty for inviting us to this event. Had so much fun!

Tory Burch Lip Color Collection is available at Rustan’s Makati, Rustan’s Shangrila and Tory Burch Greenbelt Boutique. The lipsticks are priced at PHP 1,650 each.

Just G: Dainty Details

(Just G top, skirt, jacket, Le Bunny Bleu oxfords) Hype this look on Lookbook here.

Just G will forever be my top-of-mind store for casual denim + lace + floral print combos. They have a knack for making the daintiest details super wearable and not at all over-stylized. Nothing they sell is intimidating, and while the brand may have an image that they only cater to teens, I find myself still wearing the brand well into my quarter life like it’s perfectly normal. Classic is called classic for a reason. Raise your hands up in the air if you’re already finished with college, and you’re still buying clothes from Just G!

My last 3 Just G looks have all featured denim jackets, but this one is my most favorite so far. Soft denim is everything - lightweight and incredibly comfortable! Moreover, the motorcycle jacket style is forever chic in my book. I already wore this jacket with a pair of skinny jeans and a plain white tee for a perfect “model off-duty” look.

Just G boutique stores can be found in SM Megamall, Market Market, Sta. Lucia, SM Southmall, Eastwood City, SM North Edsa, SM Manila and SM Cebu. Just G and Gingersnaps share spaces at Shangri-la, Rockwell, Robinsons Metroeast, SM Baguio and SM Pampanga.
