(SM Accessories earrings, necklace, ring and clutch, Forever 21 top, Clothes for the Goddess skirt, Indressme coat, FashionCookie ShoeAvenue wedges) Hype this look on Lookbook here. Thanks to RG for taking my photos.
Holiday dressing at its finest. I know well that it’s too hot to wear a coat out in Sunny Manila, but I couldn’t help but throw it in for the sake of these photos. Burgundy and camel always make for a classy combination, don’t you think?
I’m sure you’re all as excited as I am, that Christmas is just around the corner. It’s my favorite time of the year for a number of reasons! Firstly, everyone just seems to be friendlier and happier than usual! The effect of seeing giant parols in the streets and hearing Jose Mari Chan’s songs *cue Christmas in our Hearts* playing everywhere (and starting as early as September) is something I wish we could carry on for the rest of the year. People happily sip their peppermint coffee, red cups in hand, while they enjoy the cool evening breeze in mall parks with their loved ones by their side. Looks like a very warm and fuzzy picture, eh? It’s just like we were born for this occasion.
Secondly, the gimmicks, the events and all the parties! ‘Tis the season to be chubby~! If I didn’t have good metabolism, I think I would gain about 10-15 pounds every Christmas just by the sheer amount (and not to mention, quality) of food that I stuff myself with every time I have to attend a Christmas party. Seriously, where do all these food come from? But the bigger question here is how we are all still able to miraculously finish EVERYTHING from lechon to bibingka.
Thirdly, besides all the piggy moments, these parties are extra wonderful because we get to see all our relatives too. Not all families get together every chance that they get, so Christmas is definitely one of those important things that we don’t want to miss out on. <3
And lastly, HOLIDAY DRESSING! Call me shallow but I absolutely love all the sparkle and glitter that comes with Christmas. Brands suddenly bring out their Holiday collections, which usually consist of my favorite red, blue, green, black and white, as well as all the manifestations of gold and silver that you can ever think of.
Something that is uniquely *me* during this time of the year is wearing shiny bling and not feeling overdressed for it. For the rest of the year, I always try to keep it simple and minimal, but for the strangest reason, the celebratory atmosphere during the holidays transforms me into this completely new person who suddenly likes dressing like there’s a party everyday… even if there is none.
When I saw that SM Accessories was stepping up the game with the biggest and brightest fashion foursome, Georgina Wilson, Xian Lim, Richard Gutierrez, and Anne Curtis, I immediately thought… IT’S ABOUT TIME! Whenever I would go to SM Department Store, I would never fail to buy at least one little trinket from SM Accessories. At a very affordable price, you wouldn’t even think twice about purchasing their products. They have a wide array of designs, which are arranged by… *drum roll* COLOR, making it so convenient for all of us shopaholics. I often immediately go to the black, silver and gold sections to see if there are any nice necklaces or earrings I can add to my jewelry collection.
See how accessories can make a seemingly plain outfit look elegant and classy?
I am so obsessed with giant earrings, if you’ve noticed! They conveniently make your face look smaller (and I’ve always believed that my face looks huge compared to my body type/frame). I’m not so much into transforming my face permanently, but I’m all for creating illusions to fit my own standard of beauty.
Every girl should have a classic black clutch. Most of us have black heels as our wardrobe staples, but for the holidays, you can also invest in a matching clutch that can transform any outfit into a party-ready one.
This new favorite gypsy-esque necklace seems too busy and ornamented for my taste, but it’s a nice touch to add under collars. If I had to go out with only one accessory, my choice would be a tie between earrings (which I feel naked without) and a statement necklace such as this one.
When it comes to wearing accessories, I don’t mix metals! Some people can pull wearing both silver and gold off, but it’s one of my personal pet peeves. Sometimes my intense sensitivity to details helps when it comes to keeping an outfit from looking incoherent. Details as simple as the accent of my clutch and the corners of my diamond-shaped ring are things I never overlook. I even get worked up when the metal buckles of my bag don’t match the rest of my jewelry.
For the holidays, black/white and gold, I think is the more Christmas-y choice. This is why I particularly chose these four accessories - earrings, necklace, ring and clutch, to create a warm, festive vibe to my whole outfit.
Finished this whole outfit off with simple black wedges that give all my accessories the spotlight that they deserve. :D
Not convinced that accessories are this season’s must-haves? The new endorsers should be enough to make you want to head to the nearest SM Department Store. I’ve been following Anne and Georgina on Instagram - I love their faces so much and could only wish to look like them!
Sadly, I just arrived from Indonesia when they gathered the “it crowd” in Republiq to unveil “The Supreme Four”. It was graced by personalities from all over the industry; celebrities like Annabelle Rama, Eddie Gutierrez, Raymond Gutierrez, Tessa Prieto-Valdes, Nancy Castiglione, Sarah Lahbati, Frencheska Farr, Kylie Padilla, Rocco Nacino, Enzo Pineda, PBB Teens housemates Ivan Dorschner, James Reid, Bret Jackson, and Devon Seron, One Mega’s Sari Yap, Preview’s Lyca Puno and Anna Canlas, and supermodel Danica Magpantay. Also spotted were Marie Lozano, IC Mendoza, Bianca Roque and Chino Lui Pio who were covering the launch. Guests danced to the beats of crowd favorite DJ Mars Miranda, and were treated to prizes such as SMART Bro Tablets and an iPhone, courtesy of SMART.
The biggest celebrities have already been spotted with SM Accessories! It’s your turn to get spotted, with the leader and the authority in fashion accessories! You can get more of what’s new and get a chance to win up to 100k by following them on Facebook (just click on their ad on my sidebar) and Twitter. Don’t forget to include the hashtag #FashionAuthority. :)
Don’t I somewhat blend in the background? It’s all green! It doesn’t help that my background is full of random plants but there’s a natural and organic quality to this outfit that I find different from the usual stuff that I post.
First of all, I’ve never had anything in my closet with this kind of print until now. I usually opt for classic prints such as stripes and polkadots in very basic colors, but somehow I was drawn to this particular one with a slightly ethnic pattern.
It didn’t help that this bag was right next to the shorts inside the store. I knew right then and there that they were a match made in heaven! Very “boho” lang! I never thought I could bring myself to wear this kind of style, but…
…of course, I had to still inject “Tricia” qualities to it to make it my own. Button-downs are my staples, and this one is sooo me with these little dainty gold studs that make the whole outfit look dressier than you would expect. It’s really these kinds of gaps and differences that make me so excited to play with fashion.
Topped it all off with sky-high wedges that match the creaminess of my top.
And there you have it! On a semi-related note, I love how Bayo is now using recycled paper in lieu of plastic bags. And a very stylish one at that. Kudos to brands who are now shifting to eco-friendly ways. I myself bring an eco-bag with me when I know I’ll be doing a lot of shopping! These efforts can go a long way. :D
Whenever I run out of time to think of what to wear, I’d always either pick a bright piece of clothing or a pair of kickass heels to distract everyone else from seeing how I managed to leave the house with not so much effort. Or I just make my eyeliner darker so the attention will all go to how thick my make-up is.
I managed to do all three for this particular look, and it worked! No accessories, no frills. The make-up, the bright color of my top, and my 6-inch wedges made all the difference in the world.
It took me a long time to get over depending on accessories too much. No, wait. I actually decided not to pile on too much, because there was this one time I ruined one of my clothes because some of my sharp, intricately designed bangles brushed through them and caused the fabric to run. AFRAID!
Now I’m in the process of trying to master the art of minimalism and just being super casual and realistic about my daily outfits. Well, I’ve a long way to go, especially since I don’t have any plans of retiring my heels in the near future.
But really, a huge part of trying to pull an effortless-but-not-really look lies in how you do your make-up and hair. For some reason, anything looks good as long as you groom yourself a little. Bouncy hair, a little mascara, blush and lipstick can go a long way.
Just look at a certain percentage of the comments that I get in my social networking sites! Sometimes I get more compliments on my hair and make-up than my outfit. It’s never a bad thing for me though! :)
You know it’s time to bring out the lightest colors in your closet when you feel extra girly and it also happens to be 34 degrees outside. Thin, light fabric never fails to keep me feeling fresh all day long - no buckets of sweat trickling down my back and making the ugliest marks on my clothes. But then again, I was never really the type to sweat a lot… which I think is a bad thing too!
Finally posting the look that launched a thousand hair-related questions. First of all, this ombre isn’t real, okay? :) Secondly, I really wish I did have pink hair, or pink streaks at least. The most I can do now is cheat and Photoshop it in different colors since I still don’t know if there are any good local salons with pastel pink dye! Sponsor me please! (Obviously, there is no such thing as shame when it comes to my hair, lol)
What made me do it in the first place? Just check out my Comfit chunky color block heels! The bottom part has this really cute shade of pink that reminds me so much of cotton candy. I replicated the effect by just lasso-ing my curls in Photoshop and hue/color-ing a gradient over it.
One of my friends asked me on Instagram, “How do you wear mullet skirts? I have no idea what to pair it with!” Personally, I love wearing them with loose tops instead of going through the usual pair-it-with-a-corset route. I’m a super casual girl and loose tops make mullet skirts a little less dressy and a bit more relaxed!
Wish the world had more of these to save the day.
Cinched the dress with a belt to give it a bit of shape, but from the back it really looks like I’m wearing a cape. Love the flowy fabric that sways with my every move. I managed to wear this as a lame fashion tribute to the Avengers movie since Thor is one of my favorites! We all know he has this long red cape (that matches his godly, silky “Thoreal” locks), and I figured that it’s totally the right time to bring my own cape out of my closet!
Now all I have to do is to pray that I may one day have Scarlett Johansson’s curves to pull off a tight-fitting bodysuit!
Anyhow, my body clock is still screwed up ever since I got back from Europe… thus the whole blogging at the most obscure hours thing. :P
It’s a fact that I love everything about collars! So much that I find myself wearing them almost everyday.
What’s more perfect than wearing two collars at the same time? The necklace I’m wearing here somehow ended up looking like part of the actual top.
The things I think of when I’m feeling a wee bit more creative than usual!
How’s everyone doing? By the time this gets published, I’ll probably be either inside the Cu Chi tunnels or on my way to Cambodia from Vietnam. Hope everything’s doing great while I’m gone!
Colored socks! I went crazy when I saw these sheer ones that have tiny hearts on them. Spazzed so much I got it in 3 different colors - yellow, green and black! I’m definitely the type of person who gets the same design in different colors. If it fits perfectly or if it goes well with anything, why not?
Same goes for all the button-down collared shirts I have in my closet. How many variations should I wear before I get tired of them? Metal tip collars, two-tone ones, plain ones, ones that have fancy pockets, printed ones, floral ones, striped ones, yadda-yadda. The reason why I love them so much is because they’re universally flattering and they never get out of style. They can match pretty much everything from basic skinny pants to dainty tiered skirts!
For this look, I did the whole “pop of color” thing again! This time with blue green / mint. This color is very relaxing to the eyes, yes? It also screams summer without being as cliche as red, orange or yellow.
Did you notice that they match the colors of my blog layout too? My mint green obsession is getting way out of hand!
Gold accessories are totally my favorite accents to neutrals. They give off a very elegant vibe, don’t you think? A combination as casual as a loose black collared shirt and a simple pair of brown skinny pants can look more polished if paired with even the simplest gold accessories. Clearly I’m still not over all the shiny metallics from last Fall!
This is bad. I actually have a “golden wishlist”, which includes things I don’t have yet! Gold high-waist shorts, a gold a-line high-waist mini skirt, more gold accessories, gold hair ties, and a gold iPhone 4s case - these are only some of the things I’m on the lookout for! I wish I could be King Midas for a day and make all sorts of gold bling.
I wish this power could also have my roots bleach themselves golden in an instant, haha.
I’ll be leaving for Vietnam and Cambodia tomorrow so I’ll be queueing some entries while I’m gone. So psyched to make another travel photo entry after my trip. I still have tons of blog entries to work on, but I’m definitely going to prioritize that one when I get back. Seriously, who wouldn’t get excited for Angkor Wat?!

Upon realizing that my teal nail color matched my floral bowtie perfectly, a part of me just naturally picked clothes out with cool tones as a theme. Luckily, I was able to purchase a nice floral skirt that deviates from the normally pretty pastel pink color scheme that I fancy. It came with a really interesting-looking bright blue belt, which turned out to be a key-item in this whole ensemble, as the contrast worked so well with the paler shades of blue that I used. It’s so convenient buying clothes that come with something else that will easily complement what you’re getting. In this case, my polo top came with a bowtie, and my skirt came with a belt. Call me somewhat cheating but this kind of set-up was totally made for days when some circumstances don’t work as well as you think they would be, and when the inspiration and motivation to dress up is temporarily in the failing department. Keep cool and you just might find some overlooked blessings in the guise of two-in-one items available at your favorite store. :)
For this look, I was clearly inspired by school uniforms - glasses, ribbons, blazer, socks with maryjanes. The twist? I decided to wear a floral skirt instead of the usual pleated plain or plaid ones.
The total amount of black clothes in my closet is greater than the amount of all my colored clothes. Unconsciously, I would always march towards the black section of any store first before I check other colors out. I somewhat owe it all to my mom, whom I’ve seen exercising the same exact habit ever since I was a little girl. It’s a good habit though, because all my black clothes from all these years are the ones I find to stay in my closet for the longest time.
I have a collection of black outerwear - sweaters, cardigans, jackets and blazers. My black blazers are the ones I tend to overuse because they never fail to give a more polished look to my outfits. In this case, who would’ve thought that my signature penchant for ribbons and flowers would look good with something as dark and structured as this blazer?
Almost completely went back to my black and white roots for a day, except I took the initiative to put some sort of accent color to not make me look paler and more sickly than I already was that day. This wine poncho top was my instant go-to for a classy, conservative cover-up, as the cold Christmas breeze just slays me every time I’m outside, and never fails to leave me shaking like a sick person. I wish I had a warm and fuzzy sweater in this color so I could wear it everyday.
I’m on a roll with all the green I’ve been wearing recently!
Peter pan collar, check. Pearls, check. Polkadots, check. Heart detail in the middle, check. Ribbon bracelet, check. Doll wedges, check. This is definitely one of my “Maybe I should put all these sweet, dolly elements together!” looks again. I know this is getting rather repetitive, but my obsession with these colors isn’t going away any time soon! In fact, I’m in love with pastels now more than ever. Next colors on my must-haves for next spring and summer list are pastel pink, yellow and lavender. <3
