Something about white dresses scream simplicity, purity and elegance, and it must be me just associating it to bridal gowns, and well, first communion dresses.
Skip the puffy sleeves, eyelet fabric and ribbon belts, and you’re left with a basic white dress that can serve as the perfect blank canvas for anything and everything.
Obsessed with these little white dresses (or LWDs) nowadays. Coincidentally, I’m also wearing an LWD in the photo for Preview’s Virtual Style Awards nominations, which I’m honored to be part of, along with Camille, Kryz, Laureen and Kookie. Winning the award is a long shot (especially with my more-basic-than-basic life and style, and the fact that this 4-year-old blog has never hosted any promos for people to follow it and therefore being left behind a bit) but the recognition is enough to make me cry virtual buckets!
Vote for your faves! My un-high fashion smile invites you in!
I went through the very cliche route in styling this dress and paired it with dressy heels and a gold clutch, but I can’t wait to wear it again in a completely different way. The challenge is on.
P.S. My hair is growing at an abnormally fast rate. Let’s grow it back to the way it used to be, shall we?
This batik dress was the welcome gift from Alleira that I was talking about in my first Indonesia travel post. I ended up using it after all, despite it being in XL size, for a number of reasons. The quality of this dress is nothing short of amazing, and I wouldn’t trade the print and the design for anything else. It’s something that not everyone can reproduce, so it looks like I’ll be keeping it in my closet for a long time. For these pictures, I just used a ton of pins at the back to make the dress fit better, but I do have plans to have it altered to my size soon.
I knew I said I was going to take a break from wearing brights and pastels, but the rainy season just makes you want to fight the gloominess in every way possible. The most basic thing I can do is, well, express it with fashion!
Speaking of the rainy season, it’s finally time to get your jackets out of your closet! This denim jacket is from H&M’s newest collection, and I love how it’s long and how it doesn’t have a collar. It’s all in the details.
Rarely do I wear fitted bottoms, but these shorts were just too adorable to only end up being covered by my blue velvety top. Do they look familiar? It’s because I have the same one in orange!
Mint is one of the “it” colors of 2012, if not “the” color of the year, and I don’t think I can get over it any time soon. Such a classy color that makes a rather simple outfit stand out!
