A lot of people think that my wardrobe is bottomless, but I actually repeat clothes a lot. I’ve always found it practical to invest in classic pieces that work for my body type. If they fit perfectly, I’m definitely wearing them again. If I find a certain style that is versatile enough to go from day to night, I’m definitely buying it.
This is why I have a ton of shift dresses in my closet! Move over, bodycon dresses, because shift dresses are much more comfortable and sophisticated. They’re great for work too! I usually wear shift dresses to my meetings because they automatically make me look decent and professional. (The last thing you want to do in a professional setting is distract people with unnecessary skin exposure!)
But what *can* you do to modify a knee-length shift dress? I love wearing shift dresses as is, but different occasions call for different styling. These kinds of work dresses need not always be boring, since there are various ways to make them more exciting:
1) A) Use a belt to shorten your dress to your desired length.
This is a technique that I often use for all my good but awkward length dresses. I’m just average height (I’m only 5’3” without heels!) with a short torso-longer legs proportion, so I always play with proportions, and try to elongate my figure by showing off my legs. (This explains all my leg-baring OOTDs!)
B) Use a belt to define your waist.
This creates the illusion of a curvier figure, and also acts like an additional accessory to the whole outfit. I chose a skinny black belt with a gold buckle to match my favorite gold jewelry.
Choosing the best belt for your body type is important, unless looking frumpy doesn’t bother you at all. If you’re petite or pear-shaped, go for skinny belts that won’t overwhelm your frame. If you’ve got an hourglass figure, make sure your belt emphasizes the tiniest part of your waist (don’t go for the ones that rest at the hip). If you have a long torso, you can get away with wide belts.
2) Wear a blazer over your belted dress, and match it with boots/booties.
Perfect way to make your work dress go from day-to-night. Choose a non-black blazer to make your outfit pop, and skip the office pumps for edgier shoes!
3) Wear a knit top/sweater over your dress, and accessorize with a statement necklace.
It was only recently that I appreciated layering over dresses! I love how my skirt collection seems like it has somewhat doubled, now that I can make my dresses look like skirts too! Best to go for cropped sweaters and knits to balance out the length of the shift dress.
Also, statement necklaces are always your best friend.
The bag (SM Parisian) and dress (from SM Woman) are available at The SM Store in SM Makati. You might also want to check out the sleeveless version of this dress, as well as the rack of SM Accessories where I got the statement necklace in my last photo.
Have fun shopping!
Suddenly, something that looks straight out of my summer wardrobe! The weather has been horrible recently, so I decided to go for pink and purple pastels as an attempt to make things a little bit less gloomy. And Just G just happened to have the perfect dress for the job.
Here’s something to add to your growing Just G dress collection! <3
Just G’s new campaign is out, and I’m loving the change! Usually, they go for the typical dolly look, but this time, they went for a much edgier style! I’m so excited to see what they have in store for us Just G lovers in the next couple of months! Crossing my fingers they’ll add more black, haha!

Giving a new definition to the mocktail - mock neck + sleek ponytail. This has been my go-to look for the week, and I’m so tempted to wear a similar outfit tomorrow. I’ve always had a a sweet spot for high necklines, and every time I wear them, I am only reminded that I need more of these classy, timeless mock neck clothes in my life.
Can’t wait for Osaka with Crissey next weekend! F/W collections are out, and we are so ready to go shopping!
Girly pink version of this outfit. I even got the same shoes in a different color. I can’t bear the thought of having to eventually throw out my favorite items, so I tend to stock up by getting it in other colors, just in case the brand/store stops selling them. Raise your hands if you can relate!
If you’ve been following my outfits for a while, you’ve probably already noticed the abundance of white tops in my wardrobe. I’ve always believed that the classic white shirt is the most essential style staple. It’s a perfect blank canvas that can suit different styles and different occasions.
While there are different kinds of white tops, I’m very partial to the white button-down shirt. Once you realize how powerful it is, you’ll find yourself looking for various versions of it, or you’ll want to always challenge yourself on how uniquely you can style it. Take a cue from the sophisticated Carolina Herrera - she wears her white button-down to all opportune moments, including formal events!
Recently, I found a good white button-down shirt while shopping at The SM Store in SM Makati. I wore it in 3 different ways to prove my point. Actually, I could go on and on for a week wearing the same shirt… if only it weren’t gross, haha!
French school girl look! I wore my SM Woman white button-down with an SM GTW plaid high-waist skirt and a pair of loafers from SM Parisian.
Style tip: Don’t be afraid to play with prints and colors.
Red and green isn’t just for Christmas, and you can actually mix to different kinds and sizes of plaids together!

SM Woman top + GTW by SM skirt + SM Accessories earrings + shoes = only P2000! I swear I can’t even get a top for this amount in other stores.
Pastel party look. Less is more! Ambassador of modesty speaking - No need to reveal too much skin or wear too-tight bodycon dresses to impress your date. There’s nothing sexier than a slightly unbuttoned white shirt!
Style tip: Have you ever been to an event where literally EVERBODY is wearing black? Stand out in a crowd by looking pretty in pink like Legally Blonde’s Elle Woods! While I’m often guilty of wearing black all the time, pink and pastels always make for a unique and refreshing look.

SM Woman top + GTW by SM shorts + SM Accessories bracelet + earrings = only P1600! What a steal!
Casual, conservative chic! Here’s one look that is so versatile that you can wear it to events, to work, to church, or… to EVERYWHERE!
Style tip: Throw in a metallic clutch and pointy heels to dress up your casual denims!
Avoid looking too bulky or too covered up by bunching up your sleeves a little. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again and again = Showing off your legs? Wear a conservative top. Showing off your chest? Cover your legs. Balance is key!
SM Woman top + SM Woman Jeans jeggings + SM Accessories necklace + earrings + clutch = 5 items for only 2,500!
Another awesome thing about white button-downs is that they look wonderful with just about any accessories.
The SM Accessories section is quite the treasure trove lately! I usually go straight to where all the gold and black accessories are. Here, I layered two necklaces (one thin and one thick) together, and finished the whole look off with these unique-looking earrings.
This is only the first of my many The SM Store Makati posts to come! I’ll be blogging about them every week, and you can also find my posters when you go to SM Makati. In the posters, you can find some of my current discounted picks! At the moment, Badgley Mischka shoes have a 30% discount, while S&H shoes and United Colors of Benetton bags have a 15% discount from September 5-14.

I’ve just proven that hats, red hair and boots go well together! Makes for an edgy, somewhat “rocker” look. I totally abused this combination last year, and I will shamefully recycle it again. I decided to revive this bowler hat after almost a year, and it just so happened that the last time I used it was when I still had red hair.
While my navy obsession is still going strong, I find myself slowly making room for maroon, oxblood and wine as well. And anything that has both colors together is pretty much the icing on the cake. Case in point: this gorgeous rose gold watch with a navy and maroon strap!
Want your own Daniel Wellington watch? You can use the discount code TriciaDW to get a 15% discount until September 28th! Enjoy shopping!
