Golden Touch

Posted this on Lookbook quite some time ago but only getting to post it here now. Last weekend was a complete whirlwind of emotions for the whole Go/Gosingtian family, but I’m generally okay now. It has already been 3 days since then, though we had been preparing for it for what seemed like an eternity. Life for all of us left here must go on, when all is said and done.
I was originally planning to write a whole usually-shallow entry on recycling outfit concepts with completely different pieces, considering that it wasn’t long ago that I wore a similar outfit with more or less the same color scheme. But I’m only human, after all - I get lazy and I also have other things in life to worry about besides what I’ll be wearing for the day. I’ll get to that part later this week, after I find time to slow life down for a bit, organize my thoughts and prepare myself to immortalize one of the most major events that ever happened my life in this blog.
Tickled Pink

Here’s something fairly simple and light, in anticipation of spring and summer. It recently turned February and it’s only a matter of time before stores here in Manila pull out all their dark, rich colors and replace them cutesy pastels and florals.
I’m a little particular about the kinds of pinks that I get for myself, since I don’t find all pinks suitable for my taste and personality. This pink, however, is so incredibly perfect that I just had to temporarily ditch my ongoing black-and-white (with oxblood) streak. Let’s see if I can continue wearing lighter colors after this!
Recently I also splurged on some spring make-up from MAC and Etude House (OMG, non-Japanese brand make-up for a change!) Hopefully I can blog about my purchases tomorrow or Wednesday. Super happy with all of them so far. <3
Haute Lifestyle: Periwinkle

(Haute Lifestyle dress, EMODA earrings, SM Accessories clutch, SM Parisian heels) Hype this look on Lookbook here.
Last December 19, I attended a wedding with a strict formal dress code. I wore a periwinkle blue dress that must be the most perfect fitting dress that I’ve ever owned in my entire life. I thought my lack of curves was a hopeless case but this dress made me think otherwise. With a proper fit, you can turn a straight tree stump body into something like this! I’m thoroughly impressed - I was panicking for a dress two weeks before the wedding when the Apartment 8 team volunteered to make me one, under their made-to-order Haute Lifestyle brand, and finished the dress in only 2 weeks. They got all my measurements right the first time, and my first fitting was a breeze. Haute Lifestyle, you are doing it right! <3 I’m sure most of my readers who are still in highschool are still looking for prom or graduation ball dresses around this time, so I definitely recommend contacting them asap. The dress’ design was a collaboration between me and the brand, and that was pretty fun to do too. :D

Just G: Sweats

Loungewear? Really? For a change (and quite a major one), it’s my first time to ever try wearing sweatpants out and incorporating them into an actual outfit. The result? To hell with its fundamental function. To wear something as comfortable as this is similar to the feeling of bliss. I’m two years late with this trend, but I think it’s a good way to spice things up once in a while, considering that my comfort zone usually includes dressy collars and button-downs that don’t really give off the same chill vibe as sweats. Normally I would reserve these things for home but now I suddenly have a strong urge to wear them out for a second time. This time, probably with a cute blazer and some booties!
Merry Christmas!

It’s finally Christmas! Share the love and happiness, but let’s not forget to celebrate the birth of Jesus amidst the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. Hope everyone’s having a wonderful time right now! Sending the warm and fuzzy Christmas wishes to all. <3

Silver Sheen

Silver everywhere! The holidays make it so acceptable to go all-out with everything shiny, and it looks like I won’t be getting over it any time soon. Metallics make seemingly-plain outfits look fancier than they actually are, which is always good for those like me with closets full of mostly casual basics.
The highlights of this outfit? My silver Sheen watch and tassel heels. Sheen watches never fail to give off a very classy vibe, and I’m so happy they recently got SNSD to endorse their watches. Check out the new Sheen ad with Yoona and Seohyun on my sidebar! SO PRETTY!
And these heels! Oh, where do I even start? If Santa’s little elves went into a major fashion revolution, they’d probably wear shoes that look like these.

MOFW 2012 Indonesia Day 7

(Tricia Gosingtian x Catherine Jannelle dress, Charriol watch, SM Accessories earrings and bracelet, Comfit heels) Hype this look on Lookbook here.
And with this post, my fourth and last My Own Fashion Week (MOFW) will come to a close. I made sure to keep this particular series faithful to the purpose of my trip, which is to help promote batik. I hope I did it justice!
Anyhow, here is the third design collaboration that I did with Cat, using some fabric that I bought in Yogyakarta. I am not going to take much credit for this, because it’s all her work. I gave her an idea of what I wanted the dress to look like and told her that she was free to inject her own interpretation of it. In true Catherine Jannelle fashion, it turned out to be a masterpiece. The multiple layers of batik fabric caused a little shortage problem (my bad), but she added pinya cloth and that wonderful red part on the collar to salvage it… making it a thousand times better than what I expected it to be. It looks like it can pass off as a Filipino-inspired dress as well.
MOFW 2012 Hong Kong Day 5

(b+ab x Angelababy sweater, H&M skirt, Capital Vice shoes, SM Accessories necklace and scrunchie) Hype this look on Lookbook here. Photos by RG.

Someone clearly had fun shopping from the b+ab x Angelababy collection! All the creamy, girly knitwear and pearl-embellished items seemed like they were meant for me. I know that was such a self-absorbed way to put it, lol. But seriously, I was so sad that some of the items in the collection were sold out already, by the time I flew to Hong Kong. This sweater would’ve looked perfect if I were able to get that adorable pink tulle skirt that this was supposedly paired with. Ahh, if it’s meant to be, it will be. Perhaps God was sending me a sign, that I already have something similar in my closet and that I don’t really need any more. It’s so hard to be me sometimes. I am willing to give in to consumerism so easily. T_T

MOFW 2012 Hong Kong Day 1

Pearls, not diamonds, are a girl’s best friend. My love affair with pearls goes a long way, for me to able to say this. As a kid, my mother would often mention that wearing pearls is the best way to make yourself look elegant without looking too overdone. Just look at Audrey Hepburn! She was able to pull off a super sophisticated look by just wearing pearl accessories with her little black dress.

I have pearl earrings in all shapes, styles and sizes, but I can’t seem to get enough of them, it seems. When I saw this b+ab x Angelababy top, I went on major delusional mode, and got it from the rack without even bothering to look at the price. It turned out reasonable (THANK GOD) when it was time for me to pay, making it probably my most favorite purchase from my recent Hong Kong trip.
Tiny pearls shaped to create this lovely pattern? SOLD. The fact that it’s also part of the Angelababy collection made it even more special. I can’t stress my love for her enough, but so can’t the rest of the world. I bought her Japanese magazine covers when she was doing a lot of modeling work in Japan, and even kept a copy of the b+ab FW12 catalog with her on the cover after buying this top. I follow her religiously online, and I am so happy that she’s been going places and making a name for herself outside Asia as well.
I sound like such a creeper, but I solemnly swear that the mere sight of her pretty face and perfect features make me so happy and inspired! Girlcrush alert. She seems like a sweetheart too. <3

Toughened up a little by wearing a hat and a black pleather skirt, but still kept it feminine by wearing…

…the most adorable polkadot heels, which I now aptly call my official New Year heels. I’m a month too early, but these will be perfect for that Chinese (and Filipino) tradition of wearing round shapes that we can associate with money and prosperity. The more round shapes, the better, so polkadots are the easily the best choice!

This iPhone case was part of b+ab’s old Hello Kitty collaboration, which I was still lucky to stumble upon last month in Hong Kong. It came in different colors, but this black and gray one looked like it was made just for me! It was the safest choice, and you know how I always wear the safest choices, which is also the reason why I have such a boring and predictable style, lol. Anyhow, it features the b+ab bunny mascot hiding behind the iconic Hello Kitty bows. Too adorable for words!
Thanks to Beauty & Butter for my nails! I must mention that they have an unlimited manicure promo happening right now. For only P499 you can get full month of hand pampering. You can get your nails prettified as often as you want within 30 days by simply presenting your Unli Mani Card at any Beauty & Butter branch. I go to the one in Megamall - maybe I’ll see you there soon? :)

Bag and ring from SM Accessories.

Stay tuned for my My Own Fashion Week post tomorrow! And advanced happy birthday to me in a few hours. I’ll be turning 17…
(Yeah, right!)
Just G: Light Coral and Gray

(Just G top and skirt, CMG heels, SM Accessories necklace) Hype this look on Lookbook here. Thanks RG for taking my photos again.
Gray need not be such a dreary color. One way to make it look more playful is to pair it with girly pastels such as the light coral hue on the skirt that I’m wearing.

Stef, one of my friends in high school, introduced me to this combination a long, long time ago. Both computer geeks in our own right, we would change our layouts in our little blogs (hosted on Pitas, if I remember correctly) as fast as I would change my hair color nowadays. It was one of the most crucial moments of my life, in terms of 1) deciding that this thing that we were doing was roughly what I wanted to pursue in university 2) developing my eye for colors and color combinations.
What worked on our computer screens also worked when it came to fashion.

We had a gray + any-color-you-can-think-of phase. Every week we would change our layout themes just to suit not only our fickle-mindedness, but also to satisfy this inexplicable obsession with pairing everything with gray. In fact, I think I’m slowly picking this obsession up again. If you haven’t noticed, I changed a lot of the colors of my blog to gray recently.
We were so into it that we even convinced our batchmates to add a bit of gray to our batch shirt and banners during our pink (2nd) year.

One of my most favorite blog themes during my geeky high school days had a gray and pastel pink or pale mint color combination. It worked - the contrast between something that we usually associate as masculine and a completely different thing that we usually think of as feminine. Who would’ve thought that gray could actually look girly and that light coral could look mature?

And with that story, I’d like to impart the idea that if you’re not so much into looking at other people’s outfits for color inspiration, you can always look around you and still pick up a few things here and there.

For example, I love looking at furniture and room pictures on my dashboard during my free time. When I see a room with a color combination that I like, I try to mimic the same feel and effect using similarly-colored items in my closet.

Be inspired by everything, and you’ll realize the beauty that lies in even the most mundane things in the world.

SM Accessories: The Supreme Four

Holiday dressing at its finest. I know well that it’s too hot to wear a coat out in Sunny Manila, but I couldn’t help but throw it in for the sake of these photos. Burgundy and camel always make for a classy combination, don’t you think?
I’m sure you’re all as excited as I am, that Christmas is just around the corner. It’s my favorite time of the year for a number of reasons! Firstly, everyone just seems to be friendlier and happier than usual! The effect of seeing giant parols in the streets and hearing Jose Mari Chan’s songs *cue Christmas in our Hearts* playing everywhere (and starting as early as September) is something I wish we could carry on for the rest of the year. People happily sip their peppermint coffee, red cups in hand, while they enjoy the cool evening breeze in mall parks with their loved ones by their side. Looks like a very warm and fuzzy picture, eh? It’s just like we were born for this occasion.
Secondly, the gimmicks, the events and all the parties! ‘Tis the season to be chubby~! If I didn’t have good metabolism, I think I would gain about 10-15 pounds every Christmas just by the sheer amount (and not to mention, quality) of food that I stuff myself with every time I have to attend a Christmas party. Seriously, where do all these food come from? But the bigger question here is how we are all still able to miraculously finish EVERYTHING from lechon to bibingka.
Thirdly, besides all the piggy moments, these parties are extra wonderful because we get to see all our relatives too. Not all families get together every chance that they get, so Christmas is definitely one of those important things that we don’t want to miss out on. <3
And lastly, HOLIDAY DRESSING! Call me shallow but I absolutely love all the sparkle and glitter that comes with Christmas. Brands suddenly bring out their Holiday collections, which usually consist of my favorite red, blue, green, black and white, as well as all the manifestations of gold and silver that you can ever think of.
Something that is uniquely *me* during this time of the year is wearing shiny bling and not feeling overdressed for it. For the rest of the year, I always try to keep it simple and minimal, but for the strangest reason, the celebratory atmosphere during the holidays transforms me into this completely new person who suddenly likes dressing like there’s a party everyday… even if there is none.

When I saw that SM Accessories was stepping up the game with the biggest and brightest fashion foursome, Georgina Wilson, Xian Lim, Richard Gutierrez, and Anne Curtis, I immediately thought… IT’S ABOUT TIME! Whenever I would go to SM Department Store, I would never fail to buy at least one little trinket from SM Accessories. At a very affordable price, you wouldn’t even think twice about purchasing their products. They have a wide array of designs, which are arranged by… *drum roll* COLOR, making it so convenient for all of us shopaholics. I often immediately go to the black, silver and gold sections to see if there are any nice necklaces or earrings I can add to my jewelry collection.

See how accessories can make a seemingly plain outfit look elegant and classy?
I am so obsessed with giant earrings, if you’ve noticed! They conveniently make your face look smaller (and I’ve always believed that my face looks huge compared to my body type/frame). I’m not so much into transforming my face permanently, but I’m all for creating illusions to fit my own standard of beauty.

Every girl should have a classic black clutch. Most of us have black heels as our wardrobe staples, but for the holidays, you can also invest in a matching clutch that can transform any outfit into a party-ready one.

This new favorite gypsy-esque necklace seems too busy and ornamented for my taste, but it’s a nice touch to add under collars. If I had to go out with only one accessory, my choice would be a tie between earrings (which I feel naked without) and a statement necklace such as this one.

When it comes to wearing accessories, I don’t mix metals! Some people can pull wearing both silver and gold off, but it’s one of my personal pet peeves. Sometimes my intense sensitivity to details helps when it comes to keeping an outfit from looking incoherent. Details as simple as the accent of my clutch and the corners of my diamond-shaped ring are things I never overlook. I even get worked up when the metal buckles of my bag don’t match the rest of my jewelry.

For the holidays, black/white and gold, I think is the more Christmas-y choice. This is why I particularly chose these four accessories - earrings, necklace, ring and clutch, to create a warm, festive vibe to my whole outfit.
Finished this whole outfit off with simple black wedges that give all my accessories the spotlight that they deserve. :D

Not convinced that accessories are this season’s must-haves? The new endorsers should be enough to make you want to head to the nearest SM Department Store. I’ve been following Anne and Georgina on Instagram - I love their faces so much and could only wish to look like them!
Sadly, I just arrived from Indonesia when they gathered the “it crowd” in Republiq to unveil “The Supreme Four”. It was graced by personalities from all over the industry; celebrities like Annabelle Rama, Eddie Gutierrez, Raymond Gutierrez, Tessa Prieto-Valdes, Nancy Castiglione, Sarah Lahbati, Frencheska Farr, Kylie Padilla, Rocco Nacino, Enzo Pineda, PBB Teens housemates Ivan Dorschner, James Reid, Bret Jackson, and Devon Seron, One Mega’s Sari Yap, Preview’s Lyca Puno and Anna Canlas, and supermodel Danica Magpantay. Also spotted were Marie Lozano, IC Mendoza, Bianca Roque and Chino Lui Pio who were covering the launch. Guests danced to the beats of crowd favorite DJ Mars Miranda, and were treated to prizes such as SMART Bro Tablets and an iPhone, courtesy of SMART.
The biggest celebrities have already been spotted with SM Accessories! It’s your turn to get spotted, with the leader and the authority in fashion accessories! You can get more of what’s new and get a chance to win up to 100k by following them on Facebook (just click on their ad on my sidebar) and Twitter.
